Yahoo Groups for groups of individuals
People get together on the Internet via email-only automatic mailing lists (one email address reaches all members), and message boards (no email, messages posted and archived on the Web). Yahoo Groups combine both features, and offer even more.
A Yahoo Group is like a timeshare
Group email. Via one email address, one member can send a message to all -- but that's just one feature of a group.
Group website. Group members also share a group website (the house). Each member has a key to the house (his/her own Yahoo ID). At the house, each member can manage his/her account, view and search archived messages, upload and download files and photos, and more.
With one Yahoo ID, one can subscribe to any number of Yahoo groups.
See the directory of Yahoo Groups.

Q. How do I get a Yahoo ID?
A.  See Free Yahoo accounts for individuals.

Don't want a Yahoo ID? If you don't want a Yahoo ID, the group moderator can enter an email-only subscription for you; but you can't enter the group website.
When you enter the group website ...
Manage your subscription You can chose your preferences. For email, you can receive individual messages, or a daily digest, or opt for no email at all and view messages at the website.
Search the archives You can click on Messages to see all the old messages, and search for the ones that interest you.
Use the Files feature Yahoo provides 20 MB of space for group files. Any subscriber can upload a file (a Word file, a spreadsheet, a photo, whatever) for downloading by other subscribers.
