Three ways to open the Windows Explorer (Windows 98 menus, XP a little different.)
Right-click the Desktop "My Computer" icon, then click Explore. Right-click the Start button, then click Explore.  +e
Press your keyboard's
Windows key + e
.
The Windows Explorer has two sides:
the Explorer Bar on the left, the Contents Pane on the right.
Explorer bar. The plus (+) signs mean that there is more than meets the eye. Click a plus sign to expand the contents of the drive or folder. The + will become a minus (-). Click the minus sign to collapse the contents.
Different views of the Contents Pane
On the View menu, if "large icons" is marked, the folders look like file folders, and document files look like documents. This view is not useful.

On the View menu, if "Details" is marked, the names of folders and files are shown along with information about them. This is the most useful view. Note the gray bar across the top of the Contents Panel. Click on Name, Size, Type or Modified to reorder the list.
To create a new folder:
Highlight the folder that needs a sub-folder (below, My Documents).
Then open the File menu, click on "New," then "Folder."
A folder will appear called "New folder," which you can rename by writing in another name.
Hint: You can also right-click in the Contents Pane.
