The Internet is a world of interconnected server computers that serve clients (like you).
Your ISP provides you with email and a connection to the World Wide Web of web servers.
Web servers host collections of web-page files. The page we're looking at now is a file named 3-internetservers.htm. It resides on a server owned by our web host in Toronto, Canada. Click here to tour their facilities.
When you write a website name into your browser, or click on a hyperlink, the server picks out the file you want and downloads it to your computer.
