The Bakker roots are in
Harlingen and Terschelling, in the province of
Friesland. Terschelling is one of the Frisian Islands. Oep Bakker was born there in 1898. Harlingen is at the eastern end of the Afsluitdijk that dammed the Zuiderzee in 1933. Saskia van der Molen was born there in 1900. The children of Oep and Saskia, Peter and Afina, were born and raised in Harlingen. The family business and home was on the Voorstraat. The back door was on the Noorderhaven. |
